Ceremony

The short little poems that are spread throughout the book indicate breaking points in Tayo’s life. I believe that these poems show Tayo’s life story up to that point. They also show the important parts that happen in his life. These stories are very important to the reader to keep them up to date with what is going on throughout the story.
Without these stories in the novel I would have been completely lost. Also they play a big part in categorizing who Tayo is as well as what he is all about. Every one of the stories have such a significant meaning that you never realize until the book was over and you reflected on the book as a whole. It was then that everything finally clicked for me and I realized what everything meant.

post number 2

I think that the choices of language affect your reading experience greatly. One way is if a novel is written in and ordinary style it is way easier to read as opposed to one that is written in specific context. I personally would read a boring book written in ordinary text way before an interesting book written in a way that would take me awhile to figure out. For that matter not all texts written in a specialized style are even readable.
I think that the effort put into reading tells you mostly about the text. In putting forth the extra effort you tend to pick up more then you would if you just went through it once in little to no time. However it also tells you that the language itself is forever changing. It has started this change since the begging of time and will continue to do so throughout the future. We as humans are always going to some up with something better then what we have now. I think that history will say that the way we speak today is foolish and incomprehensible.

Fairy Tales

I believe that the biggest thing that could be called into question about our ideas of fairy tales is which audience the tales were accually meant for. In reading the Grim Fairy Tales, I think that these were soley intended for adults to read. Even though each tale has a moral or morals that would hold very valuable to children there are other elements that make them interesting to the older reader. However, the graphic content in these tales make them unacceptable for young aduidences to read. On the other hand, there is no doubt that these tales hold life lessons within them that are necessary for a younger reader to learn.
Without ever reading the newer versions of these fairy tales I would view them as very interesting because of the way the words are used and put together making visualizing the events simple. Yet, the endings in these tales are startling even in today’s world. These tales make me think of times when as a boy I would sit with my friends around the campfire where we made up stories trying to scare each other. If these tales were the only version available I would certainly not allow younger children to read them.
