Fairy Tales

I feel that by reading Fairy Tales such as Grimm’s Tales, valuable lessons can found. Whereas most Fairy Tales such as Disney’s Cinderella can be viewed as a source of entertainment, Grimm’s Tales contain life lessons that can be taught to children in an indirect fashion. Little Red Riding Hood teaches the lesson that children should not trust strangers. The lesson is taught in such a way that children do not really know they are learning something. Children feel that they are listening to a bedtime story meant to entertain them. Grimm’s Tales do ‘upset the natural fact’ by teaching these lessons using graphic descriptions.
There is a huge difference between Disney and Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Disney always seems to teach the idea that no matter what happens, people live happily ever after. Grimm’s Tales, however, seem to go one step further and make the case that if someone messes up in life, things will not always be alright. Nowadays, people grow up believing in Disney’s idea of a Fairy Tale, rather than the Grimm’s versions.
