In the chapter amusement, victor talks saddie into putting dirty joe on a ride the park, while he was passed out from being drunk. they trick the guy operating the ride, by offering him twenty dollars to let dirty joe ride while he was passed out. The security guards came running over after dirty joe fell face first into the grass, and the one security guard went after victor, and victor ran into the fun house, and entered the room with the crazy mirrors, to try to trick him from where he really was. i didnt really see where any trickster sensibility was with this is what it means to say Pheonix, Arizona. Victors dad died of a heart attack, and he has to go to pheonix, and takes tomasbuildsthefire, with him, for money reasons and thomas knows that. they go to pheonix, come back and go there own seperate ways.

I really enjoyed the book house of spirits. it kept my attention throughout the whole entire book. they express how important power is in this book. they show us that in order to be respectable you should have power, and even sometimes in the end having power isnt everything. i like their culture and how they do things. i like how its supposed to be a very proper culture, where your celebate until your married, and you marry for love most of the time, but occasionaly its arranged so you live a good life. and it shows that in the end you should always end up who you love or who your meant to be with. this book was very interesting, and i enjoyed it a lot.

In Lorcas play “Blood Wedding” there are many ideas of how their culture views how things should be than how i do in my personal views. In the play, the women stay at home and the men are the bread winners, and they have somewhat or arranged marriages, they usually marry for a status, and not normally love….Women are supposed to be virgins untill they are married, and if not their family is ashamed..and women are supposed to be in the kitchen, and obey their husbands..Violence in this play, is always looked down upon by the one mother who lost her son and husband to violence and weapons, but somehow violence always ends up happening in this play….In my personal opinion, the views displayed in this play definately do not correspond with my own views…the times have changed since the play was written, so im sure if i was alive around that time, my views might be a little more similar to those of Lorcas.

I enojoyed reading about the Corrido..when i first read about it, i didnt feel bad for him at all…the book conveys him as being arrogant, harsh, and he taunted the authority figures. He shot the sheriff while trying to defend his brother, and he flees the sight…he taunts the police officers saying that they’ll never catch me..When you watch the movie it gives you a completely different perspective to the story…They make it out to be a misunderstanding gone bad..and they convey cortez to be a family guy, and that he doesnt taunt the police officers..The movie sort of plays out the sympathy card, because they make you feel bad, and show the softer side to him…the book is good, but i liked the movie a lot better..

I think that uncle remmus was extremely hard to read and understand, and i think it was a good idea for us to read it, and challenge our reading skills and thinking skills…i didnt quite understand it, because it was very difficult to know some of the words, but i got most of the slang that they used…
i think the difference between the language used in that story and the language we use today is very significant..its very hard to understand when you sit there and try to think about it, but if you just read it how it sounds it goes alot quicker, and its easier when you dont sit there and analyze every word you come across..

At first when i read this book, i didnt really like it, and was kind of bummed that we had to read it, but as the book went on, i started gettin more and more interested in the book..i think that the conflict between the nurse and mcmurphy is pretty much what caught my attention…He goes out of his way all the time, to irk this woman, and at first when i thought it was funny, because its very clear hes not crazy hes just there because hes lazy…I felt bad for this nurse at first because, who would ever want to have to deal with a unmotivated person who isnt really mentally sick?? I know he did it for a bet at first, but after a while, i think he started noticing how this woman, manipulated the patients who were actually sick, and i think that his bad behavior towards this woman was more or less to make her lose her cool, so that these men, could see how manipulative she is, and how easy it would be to make her lose her temper…In this book i dont necessarily like this woman at all, i think that shes evil, and that she takes advantage of these poor sick individuals…and i think some of the characters in the book, realize how horrible and controlling this woman is, and how she uses her power to make the patients do work that they shouldnt have to..And when Mcmurphy strangles her, b/c Billy Bibbit kills himself due to the things she said, and the guilt she made him feel, i dont think it was right and it’ll never be justified, but mcmurphy did that because he actually started caring about these other patients and became their friends..I think the conflict between mcmurphy and the nurse give a view of the outside world, because people are manipulative, and they think that violence and acting out in a bad way solves everything…In our world today, i know there are very manipulative people out there, who think that this kind of behavior is okay, and that use violence as a means of “teaching a lesson”…And when mcmurphy comes into the mental hospital he bring a kind of “real world” atmosphere to the hospital.

Before i read grimms tales, i thought that all fairy tales had happy endings..thats at least the way walt disney has made them appear to millions of children across the united states….Walt disney portrays the story of cinderella as her father died, and that was the only reason that such evil behavior and actions were bestowed upon cinderella…this is not the case…grimms fairy tales, have morals and have unusual endings…cruel endings…my thoughts on fairy tales before this was that there were always happy endings in all fairy tales…
After reading grimms tales and seeing that in the story cinderella’s father was alive, and he allowed his stepdaughters and wife to treat her so harshly startled me…and in the end when the birds poked out their eyes were even more disturbing…i wouldve thought that these were folk tales, but indeed they are old fairy tales that people used to read their children, and walt disney pretty much sugar coated these fairy tales for millions of american children across the states…i still would like to believe and hope that fairy tales are happy and that dreams do come true..
