The encounter between Blanca and Pedro was supposed to be how the book wanted you to vision how they were going to be for the rest of their lives. They were children, having fun and yet they are would be found in the same position years later. Maybe the book wants you to think they are to be married later in life. Or that they’re lives are really meant to be secret like how it was when they were younger, found hidden from everyone else underneath a table. I think everything that went on between there meetings was supposed to symbolize forever love and devotion. As a reader, I feel ready for this to happen if it would take place considering all of what they went through. It gave me a sort of climax and got me thinking about how it would be if political matters weren’t in the way. Its funny how there political position can get in the way from how they feel for each other as lovers.
