In Alexie’s book there are a few funny tales. Some of the tales potray a “trickster”. When i here or think of a trickster i get the image of some guy that play jokes on people. Like tieing someones shoes together when there not looking. the hole pie in the face joke and the notorius shaving cream in the sleeping man hand. In the book the form of trickster is in the form of a freind. One of the freinds gets wasted and passes out, His good buddies help him out by putting him on a roller coaster. Classical college material. I can see my selfing doing this to alot of my friends. I have been the trickster at many of my parties, most of the time it includes hair clippers. Having this type of humor in the book makes the book to me more fun to read. It gets me to laugh, and if im able to enjoy what im reading, ill be able to pick up and under stand it more. i find my self wanting to read on, something that i havnt done in a long time.

In the book there are many evil and twisted people, that seem hidden. McMurphy almost seems like a scum of society in the book. Does nothing good, just gets in troble where ever he goes, and always looking for the esay way out. He commits him self to a mental hospitol were he think life will be good. Once he gets in his life will change. I think that the hospitol does more harm then good. The men that are in there need help and the hospitol does try to help but there are parts in the book where there is some serious mental abuse. When McMurphy gets a party going in side the hospitol and they find one of the men with a hooker, the man was trying to confess. He was speaking clear and seemed like he may not need to be in the hospitol. When the Head nurse brings up his mom he crumbles. It is clear that there staff of the hospitol no the weakness of the patients and will use it agaisnt them when they want to. it drove that man to kill him self. That is very clear to me that the hospitol really doesnt know what they are doing at all. Assuming that all the people in that hospitol are there for help, why do some many of they get hurt? It doesnt seem like really any of them have any progress. The only one that i can see that was help was Chef and his help came from McMurphy. I think the hospitol was more of a prison than it was to help people. When people are sleeping they get tied down. they dont even do that in prison. I completly disagree with the people being in the hospitol. there were many curel acts of mental and physical torture, that no one, even at that era should go though. they try to say the shock therapy help, HA yea it helped make the people a vegitable. If making them a zombie helps them get of there mental issuse then yea, the hospitol helped people, but i dont think there would be a large line to get in that place if everyone know what really happend in there

Though out the book “Blood wedding” there os a text book version of a “soap opera”, Betrayal, viloence, money and greed. In the book it seems like marraige revoles around money than love. If a poor man loves a rich women the, womens side wont let them marry just because the man is poor. One gets the feeling that many young men and women get forced in to marraige wheter love is an issue or not, mainy for money and titles. No family wants to be know for there son to marry a poor women, they want to be proud and say yes my son married “so and so” the millionares daughter. There were many twist in the book, only for the ending to leave to men fighting for the same women only to kill eachother. Money can easily change people but when it involes love, its a deadly combination.

In the House of sprits to me is almost sex/death driven. A conflict of how things should be ran comes up on page 118. There are two ideas that are kind of born when it comes to sex mainly prostitution A Patron and a Cooperative system. The patron system is kind of what is used to day in prostition. Where the workers would do that that do to get money and basicly give it to there boss. This really doesnt give much back to the workers, they see there earned money go out as it comes in. On the other hand the Cooperative system is more worker freindly. What ever the workers make, they keep just about all of it, making them more independent.

There are many forms of literature these days. you can find it any where if you look with and open mind, and hard enough. Online is no expection. In the Asteroids game was a twist from the org. Instead of asteroids, there were words. Some words would chase you where other words had there own direction, Your job was not to be taged by the words. A very unusual game that really didnt have much meaning. The second online game “LIES” was also different. You would type in a lie and from what i kind of understand what ever someone has typed in when you click it, it almost says the opposite. It was interesting to see what people have wrote and what lie or truth was uncoverd when you would click on it. Its an easier way to learn or to open your eyes and get out of a ” shell of saftey” and explore. I think the main idea behind these tools are to touch a wider range of people. Not many people can sit down with a book, some others need a different way to learn. wether is a game or something physical. They have their own way or being around literature and these are one of many that do that.

After watching http://www.elcerebro.com/archivo/bush_rey.htm. I could almost connect it with the the corrido stories. The short clip from me veiwing only the cartoon, seemed as if Pres. Bush was gun slining texan who was almost asking for the Iraq war. The whole cartoon was in spanish and Pres bush wore a rediculous hat the whole time. The cartoons shows once bush makes a rash choice many things crash, like the enconomy. This in a way even though its not related it run the same line with the corrido. Where one thing happens and its almost a downward spiral form one actions. Another way I was looking at the cartoon way the 911 side. Even though we all wanted to point fingures had terriorist, there may have been other sides to the story. There were many movies online that went against the terriost and pointed the fingures at high ranking government officals. Any way, in todays world, many old storys have been twisted and turn much like 911 and the corrido story. I dont think there would be as many storys today if it wasnt for differnt versions and variations. What a good is camp fire story that every one knows already?

When stories are told, People spice them up. Some stories need to have a twist tossed in to gain the intrest of others. Wether things are added, taken out or changed completly, it happens all the time. I can think of several stories that have been changed around. Before reading the Corrido story i was able to understand that this is one of those stories that has many twist. I my self, have never heard the story so i thought it would be fun to see whats out there. Old stories i think are the ones that get spun around the most, and this is one old storyI read many version of this story, from just someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time to a gun blazing rebel. I think the reasoning for people changing the stories is for appeal. People dont want to hear about some lone mexican of killed a cop. They may rather hear some big rough cowboy who flattened a town in one night and no one saw his face. thats why there are so many version. SOme of the big version changes were about his family. When Corrtez’s brother was shot, some stories went on about his revenge for his brothers death. Others went off on just hate for the people who let it happen. I like to listen to the same story with a twist, you get the same idea of the story but it will live on longer, as long as the main part of the story stays intack.

In the novel Ceremony, there was a story within a story. In an almost poetic set up told a story. The story was about how rain was taken away, and the lands were almost cursed. The rain was taken away because people in a sense lost respect for having the rain, It was almost a privlage that was taken away. All life changed. As the story unfolds, you find out in order to get the rain back a humming bird and a fly, go on a journey to right the wrong, to get “storm clouds”. Once embarked on the trip, they find them selfs running around, to got one thing they had to do another.
Eventually the people get there rain back, almost the same way Tayo gains respect in the story. Almos to the point where tayo had to go to hell and back to be involed in ceremonies at home, just like the humming bird and the fly had to go all over to get the rain back. In the end there hard work and determination prevailed and they all got what they wanted the most.

When you read a book, a story unfolds. You learn things about the characters that you didnt know before. You feel almost as if you were apart of it. Most of the songs i Listen to (rock/punk/country) all tell a story. I would say yes, you can find literature in music. Like a book, songs tell you what happened, whats going on or what will happen. Literature itself I think is in the eye of the beholder for the most part, So by me saying music is literature is unjust. You can fight that in many ways, as well as i can books to literature. I feel if something effects you or your mind has changed after listening, or reading then there literature in there some where, it may not be the best, but its there.
