Lyrics and Literature BLOG
20 09 2006When you read a book, a story unfolds. You learn things about the characters that you didnt know before. You feel almost as if you were apart of it. Most of the songs i Listen to (rock/punk/country) all tell a story. I would say yes, you can find literature in music. Like a book, songs tell you what happened, whats going on or what will happen. Literature itself I think is in the eye of the beholder for the most part, So by me saying music is literature is unjust. You can fight that in many ways, as well as i can books to literature. I feel if something effects you or your mind has changed after listening, or reading then there literature in there some where, it may not be the best, but its there.

Your blog was very insightful. I never thought of music being a form of literature. Personally, coming from a musical background I typically listen to the beat, but next time I will pay closer attention to the words to get the full story. Also I really like how you mentioned when you read or listen to something it has an effect on your mind. This sounds really cheesy but, I think the world would be a bad place without music and books because they are very theraputic to lots of people. People also express themselves in their music. I think its a healthy outlet for everyone’s emotions whether you are in a good or bad mood.
